Don’t ban Dihydrogen monoxide, pick a President
Written by Michael Vass
I’m on a bit of a Penn & Teller kick today (used clips from their program in a few posts found at Real Simple Blog, All American Blog, Black Entertainment USA and Vass) so bear with me.
Given that, I noticed a simple thought. Sometimes what you hear is not what you get. Sometimes politicians use well intentioned people for their own means. And it can happen very easily. See the clip.
So what is my point? We have a Presidential election that will decide the direction of the nation not only for 4 years but perhaps the next several decades. Many groups of people in America are upset about the war, or President Bush, or the economy and so on. Some of them have joined in supporting one political party or another. All that is fine, if you understand exactly what you are supporting.
I would bet many members of MoveOn.org respect and love our military. Yet their support helped fuel a direct personal attack on General Petraeus and thus every member of the military serving under him. That attack questions the loyalty and thus the degree of dedication and support the military provides to our nation. I don’t think many members that love our nation every believed that, or intended to say that.
Without knowing what you are supporting the door is open to corruption and consequences that are anything but desired.
“The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.” - Dr. Samuel Johnson
Before you make your primary or Presidential vote, think of this video clip. Think of the consequences of your vote. Think of the greatest good for the nation without the obfuscation of emotion, the blind loyalty of party affiliation, or following the crowd. Your vote counts and its effects are irreversible.
Don’t ban Dihydrogen monoxide, and don’t vote without thought.
