Who has the best plan for your health?

Issues for the next President

Written by Michael Vass

Everyone knows what the hot buttons are in this 2008 election. Few things are spoken about except immigration, healthcare, and Iraq not in that order. Yet it has only been recently that cohesive comments, and parts of actual plans, have been announced by the leading candidates.

To that end I found a list of several of the leading candidates’ healthcare plans. This is a hyper-condensed list. It cuts out all the clutter and double talk leaving each candidate to the major points of what they have revealed to date. It also includes the cost of the programs, where such can be determined.

This is by no means a comprehensive list. There are a lot of details that are important in understanding the difference from one candidates’ position to the other. The impact of the plans have more to do with the lives of average Americans than just how much it will cost. But it is an entry point that is not too complicated.

Keep in mind, several of the Democratic candidates advocate a system that is similar in ways to healthcare systems found in Canada and England. That is what is meant when it states Americans will be required to have health insurance. Most Republicans advocate healthcare plans that promote non-government run healthcare. Each plan has benefits and detractions.

Take a look and it may help you understand what options you and your family will be facing in 2008 and beyond.
