A quick thought on the Florida Republican debate

Republican Party, Presidential Candidate

Written by Michael Vass

Am I the only one to notice that the test group used by Fox News to rate the Republican candidates on the Florida debate were all White? Not one African American or Hispanic in the group. What is that about?

Why is everything the Republican Party is doing in these debates seems to ignore or invalidate all minorities in America? They have avoided minority sponsored debates, and failed discuss many issues relevant to minorities. It makes me feel like they sometimes forget there are Black Republicans, not to mention Hispanics and others.

And now I see a focus group that does not reflect the other members of the GOP at all. It’s irritating.

I realize that the GOP may have had nothing to do with the focus group. It could be just what Fox chose to do. But it still irritates me. Because the impression exists that they don’t care. It’s not true, to some extent at least, but it’s their.

I suppose it’s more honest than the Democratic Party that has often made promises on issues sensitive to minorities, until they get elected. Then they drop out of site and many issues get little backburner attention. Or so they present themselves. But at least they act involved.

It’s a pet peeve. It may not be accurate. But that’s what I noticed. Did anyone else feel the same after the debate?
