The distraction color provides

Presidential Candidate

Written by Michael Vass

Sometimes you learn something useless and you wonder, why in the world anyone would ever bother to consider the subject you read. If it was a waste of time to read how much worse was it to write, or even research. I’ll give you an example.

Imagine pomegranate red, peacock blue, buttercup yellow, grass green for a second. Not all together, but each color separate. Take your time. For the men out there like myself just drop the first part of each color and focus on the second. Pomegranate red is meaningless to me, but red I understand.

Now since you have thought about those colors, who deserves to be President? Too obscure? Then what is the answer to world peace? New energy sources? Immigration?

If you find no connection I understand. [If you do see one, please write an explanation because I would love to hear it.] The fact is that there is no connection I am aware of. One means nothing when considered with the other. Unless you are running for President of the United States.

At least that’s what some would like us to think. In probably one of the most distracting and least important articles I have read about what is important to the presidential election is Style becomes a real issue in ‘08 presidential race By Maria Puente.

I will say this, other than Senator Clinton dressing in an outfit best left for Britney Spears; I really don’t care what she wears. It has no real bearing on her ability to be a Senator or potentially President. The same can be said of Senator Obama, in that unless he were to be in an outfit that Snoop Dogg would find fashionable, his choice in clothing is meaningless. This theme continues for every Presidential candidate out there.

I have friends that pick which football team to root for based on the color of their uniforms. I’ve mentioned this before; it’s a perfectly reasonable way to pick a team if you have absolutely no concern about the sport at hand. ANYONE that is so superficial and obsessed as to vote for or against a candidate solely because they chose to wear a seafoam green accessory (does that color even exist??) really shouldn’t be voting, in my opinion.

It’s insanity. It’s dumb. Why anyone needs to write about this is beyond me.

The appearance of the candidates is important in that a potential President should look sharp, the colors are pretty irrelevant. For those that say but there is a difference, I say no there isn’t.

If you say you are an advocate of the people and spend $400 or more on haircuts, you look hypocritical. It’s not the haircut that matters, it’s the mixed message. Honestly, I neither know nor care what suit Fred Thompson or Bill Richardson wears. But I do care about all the candidates messages and plans for the nation. Whether Senator Clinton wears a skirt or pants does not change the amount of oil in the world, the taxes we pay, or the social entitlements in this nation.

If anyone can name the exact shade and color of the tie Rudy Giuliani is wearing, slap yourself. Who cares? Someone picked it for him, and they won’t be running the nation.

Really, what else needs to be said about this?
