Just don’t go on a tour boat with them

For too long and to too many, politics has been a drab and tedious topic. Filled with individuals most wouldn’t want to talk to. Who are as likely to hold previous professions as car salesmen and lawyers as anything else. I don’t mean to insult the car salesmen and lawyers out there (Well maybe the lawyers a little). But I think most would agree that politicians are not the most heartwarming types, even if they are of the Party you agree with.
Which is why I found a recent post by Ann M. Mack to be so interesting. Ms. Mack has found a justification for calling the leading Presidential candidates the cast of Gilligan’s Island. Yes she went there. Not that there aren’t plenty of characters in the race of the Presidency of 2008. I don’t think I need to mention who.
But of the leading picks the question comes up on who you would place as the appropriate character on the list. I’ll save who was compared to Gilligan for last, but the main subject seemed to be Senator Hillary Clinton. While former President Clinton may consider her the equivalent of Mary Ann or Ginger (then again maybe not) it seems most picked her as most like Mrs. Thurston Howell III. I find that funny on several levels. Of equal jest is the Skipper. There is almost a tie for this one, with Senator McCain and Mr. Rudy Giuliani taking this position. My vote leans to Senator McCain, he has the age thing working for (or against) him.
We get to see the Professor at Senator Obama, which sounds just right. No there was no mention of who gets to be the aforementioned ladies. Not that would be interesting to here what you think. And why you might pick some one for it. For me I would have picked Mr. Giuliani. He has done drag enough times to qualify.
But the big star gets to be Gilligan. Mr. John Edwards claims that title hands down. Well if that doesn’t bring a chuckle to you, I can’t imagine anything else in politics that will. Thank you Ms. Mack, it was worth the reading.
