Escaping the abyss

Issues for the next President

Mr. James Kunstler makes some interesting conclusions in his recent post at the Daily Reckoning Australia. For those that believe the current political system is biased, unchanging and impotent – he is right there lock and step. Mind you, I am speaking about the political system not the current President. [There is a pot shot at President Bush, and a mild rebuke to Mr. Al Gore but they are not the focus of the post.]

Mr. Kunstler’s observations run the gamut from oil to the political status quo, with a hint that corporations are far more vested in the next President than the public is right now. While all these points do lean left of center, they are not that extreme and they do give reason for thought. I tend not to be as pessimistic as this post appears to me, but I can see some of the points.

The question remains though, if

“What everybody seems to sense semi-consciously is that the status quo is dragging the United States into an abyss.”

What is the answer and path out?
