The July 23 Democratic Debate
Well there is a new trick out there that sounds great on the surface, but really isn’t. If you haven’t heard about the Democratic debate on July 23rd then you don’t know that YouTube will be involved in the event.
Yes, there will be a group of questions presented to the candidates that will be cherry picked out of those submitted tou YouTube between now and the 22nd. As I mentioned, on the surface it sounds great, but the big thing is that CNN will be deciding what goes out.
Anyone can answer questions picked to provide the easiest response. That isn’t what the debate should be about. Let the presidential candidates get random questions to answer and see how they do. Let the real voice of the nation be heard and see how they react when questions that the public worry about are asked.
It won’t happen, and it could, so instead there will be a couple of softball questions, and others designed to pump up various candidates. At the end it will be claimed that it was an amazing statement of the people, the candidates will have spent 30-ish seconds on answers to questions that deserve 30 minutes, and the respective staffers will hit the net and blogs to raise cash.
So who really wins? Or am I wrong?
